ANP 2003 ...A Big Success!
Araw ng Pasasalamat

by Jack Romero

You better believe it. ANP 2003 was a big success. One hundred & twenty members, families and friends flock the Chesapeake Commons Clubhouse to celebrate Thanksgiving and to strengthen their faith in the Lord Almighty. There were singing, dancing and the food was absolutely delicious. I want to congratulate all the members of the Rancho Pinoy Organization for hosting this spectacular event. This is by far, the BEST ANP ever! Everyone at the party was giving kudos to each other and was proud to be a part of the show. Even the 3 people from Headline News who came to cover the event were saying that it was a big hit. Already they are making suggestions for next year’s event and they will definitely be back, they said.

How about the program? What a terrific job considering that everyone was an amateur in the entertainment business, except of course for the 4 veteran actresses, Vilma Valera, Miriam Jurado, Linda De Vera and Vivian Arcega, who graciously spiced the program with their singing and comedy antics. Not to be outdone is Helen Schoening, wife of Mark, who brought the house down with her angelic voice as she sung “Once Upon A Time.” Nicho Ogoy also did a masterful job in singing “Just Once,” while Ingrid Romero showed her talent in singing “Kung Ako Na Lang Sana.” Other performers include, Varinia De Vera, Andrew Keh, Christy Umali, Rosie Ziniga and Norie Ventura.

Bobby Natividad provided the group with spiritual guidance at the beginning of the show and brother Joel and George Kim provided the only live instrumental number. As always, the lovely Melanie Sinex performed an Interpretive dance called “Mercy Saw Me,” while Mom, Alexis Honrubia, inspired the group with her Salamat Sa Iyo Panginoon” poem. The “Trick for Treat” number at the end generated more than $300 for the Mentally Delayed Children of the Rancho Cordova Unified School District.

Special thanks to Lisa and Bobby Regala for catering the delicious food, and Divina Bauer for being the Program Director. Likewise, Willie Rafanan, Christine Velasquez and Melanie Sinex for their creative minds in the Decoration Committee, Nicho Ogoy for keeping the memories alive inside his digital camera and finally, Victoria Antiporda for keeping the group on track & for being the Jack of all trades. Not to mention the hard work from Ody Correces, Andrew Keh, Marlon Sohl, Jun Dizon, Edwin and Oscar Guerrero for ushering people inside, bartending and for doing all the heavy lifting.

Slowly but surely the Rancho Pinoy organization is getting the recognition it truly deserves. There are already talks about getting a TIN number for all charitable contributions and they even elected a President to keep the fire glowing. The new website is almost complete and this will help promote the mission of this organization even further. The Rancho Pinoy members are truly the ambassadors of good will and may God bless you many folds.
