Eddie Ilarde
Enters Senate Race
Eddie
Ilarde comes out of his retirement to seek the people’s
mandate once again to bring back the glorious and golden
days of the last senate. He belongs to the senate of
Senators Puyat, Aquino, Tolentino, Almendras, Ganzon,
Aytona, Pelaez, Diokno, Estrada Kalaw, Tanada, Benitez,
Espina, and other great and honorable men of probity
and respectability.
Known
to the masses as “Kuya Eddie,” Edgar Ilarde
was born in August 25, 1934 in Iriga City in Camarines
Sur of poor parents, both public school teachers (Emilio
Llacer Ilarde whose roots are from Antique in Panay,
and Agapita Aquino Ubalde. Married to Sylvia Berenguer
Arrastio of Arayat and Lubao, Pampanga. They are blessed
with 7 children, now all professionals (5 boys and
2 girls). Ilarde graduated in Far Eastern University
(FEU) with a degree in Journalism. He has a long list
of experience in both the government and the entertainment
business. He are some of his accomplishments:

Lifetime Achievement Awardee For Radio And Television
– Media Pioneer awardee for quality entertainment
and educational programs, such as Student Canteen,
Kahapon Lamang, and many others.
? No. 1 Councilor Pasay City (Independent) 1963
? Congressman First District of Rizal (Independent)
1965 – Garnered the biggest majority by an Independent
in the history of Philippine politics. Voted as one
of the 10 Outstanding Congressmen during the Sixth
Congress by the Philippines Free Press and other national
and international organizations
? Nacida Director 1970 – National awardee for
the “Outstanding Service” to the Cottage
Industry of the Philippines by the International Association
of Cottage Producers.
? Senator 1971 – One of the victims of the Plaza
Miranda bombing during the Liberal Party “Miting
De Avance.” His services, as Senator was cut-off
when Congress was abolished after the declaration
of Martial Law.
? Elected Assemblyman Batasang Pambansa – 1978
? Founder & Chairman Maharlika Foundation For
National Transformation Inc., And Golden Eagles Society
International Inc. – This society is the biggest
organization of senior citizens or older persons in
the Philippines today.
Ilarde’s
credentials speak for itself but it is his passion
for his work that separates him from the others. Someone
once said that if you love your work, you’ll
never have to work a day in your life. Serving the
Filipino people is a way of life for Eddie and he
loves doing it, which is why he is recognized by many
around the world as the “champion of the poor
and elderly.”
